Formed in 1907, Adelaide University Cricket Club (“AUCC”) has a proud history as one of the longest established Clubs of the South Australian Cricket Association (“SACA”), the highest level of cricket in SA.
AUCC also has four teams in the Adelaide Turf Cricket Competition (“ATCA”) and one Women’s SACA 2nd grade T20 and One Day Team. Accordingly, there are opportunities for players of all levels to play at a standard appropriate to their ability and ambition. All games are played on turf wickets based on or around the beautiful University Oval.
Each year AUCC players and AU students represent the Vice Chancellor’s XI in a preseason one day intervarsity (IV) tournament, held at University of Queensland. Traditionally we have also played 3 day matches against Sydney University Cricket Club and Melbourne University Cricket Clubs.
Central to AUCC principles is to offer the best practice and playing facilities in South Australia. In 2012 we upgraded our turf practice wickets (above left), while in 2015 (above right) we installed a new centre wicket at the beautiful University Oval.
Overseen by Director of Coaching Ashley Woodcock in 2016/17, the AUCC offers extensive coaching to all players. Cameron Borgas (High Performance), Ben Hilliard (Senior Development), Shihub Rahman (Development) are supported by Robert O’Shannassy (Assistant Coach & Chairman of Selectors). Ashley Mallett is also regularly used as a consultant coach for our spin bowlers.
Further, AUCC has an Administration officer (Luke Johnston) positioned at the AU Sport offices on campus. As a result of the above measures, the AUCC is extremely confident that any player will have the support and assistance to enable him to reach their full potential.
Please note, you do not have to be an Adelaide University student to play for AUCC. We encourage players of all backgrounds and age.
