Intervarsity (VC’s XI) Cricket

Since 1908, the AUCC has played Intervarsity cricket. Although our “traditional” rivals have been Melbourne and Sydney Universities, matches against Tasmania and Western Australia also bring back fond memories for some! IV cricket has long been considered the pinnacle for University players, and continues to galvanise the playing group today.

The Vice Chancellor of Adelaide University Professor Warren Bebbington is the current Patron of AUCC. This follows a long line of Vice Chancellors who have been heavily involved with the club.

As a result of this association, since 2012/13, the AUCC represents the VC’s XI for all Intervarsity matches. Traditionally, the IV fixture included a home and away match against Sydney and Melbourne Universities. In recent times, this has been extended, in May 2013, the VC XI played in a one day tournament in Malaysia, In 2014/15, the AUCC played in a Preseason One Day Tournament at the University of Queensland, this is now an annual event.

Since 2011, the AUCC has had players represent the Australian Universities CC, a wonderful concept where a composite side is selected from all Australian University Cricket Clubs to play against Loughborough University in the UK. This has proven to be a hugely valuable network for all clubs.
