As a result of the national over 50s championships held in Sydney during late 2016, there has been a strong push to establish an over 50s cricket competitions in each state. TP (Tim Pellen) is working closely with SACA to establish a SA competition in 2017/18. Interest has been high, with 8 SACA/ATCA clubs (including AUCC) already expressing an interest in fielding teams. The format will likely be 45 overs a side, with 9 overs per bowler maximum & retirement for batsmen on 50. At this stage we are looking at playing on every 2nd Sunday, which will likely mean 8-10 games including finals. AUCC has already kindly agreed to provide beautiful Park 10 No.1 oval for the use of our games.
To be eligible, players must be at least 50 years of age during the year of competition, which effectively means anyone born in 1968 or earlier is eligible. In addition, each side is also allowed to play 2 players who are at least 45 years of age (ie born 1973 or earlier). Having had some discussions already with eligible players, I am confident we will be fielding a very competitive side.
Don’t forget that playing in this competition will also mean you will be eligible to represent SA & Australia at national championships & on overseas tours. More information will be provided as we get closer to the start of the season, but in the meantime TP would like anyone who is interested in playing to send an expression of interest to him at firstname.lastname@example.org.

The 2017 AUCC Annual General Meeting which was originally scheduled for Sunday 24th September will now be held at the University West Beach playing fields on Saturday 23rd September at 11.30am. It usually takes no more than 15 minutes.
As per the AUCC Constitution, all positions on the Committee will be up for re-election. Should you wish to nominate for a position please contact the Secretary.

AUCC will be once again playing in the Preseason One Day IV tournament at the University of Queensland CC from August 25-27th. As always, Past Players are invited to join us on Saturday 26th at Webb Harris Oval for afternoon tea at 2pm.
The tournament will be 3 one day matches against UQCC, Sydney Uni and Melbourne Uni.
